Proud to be FSC Certified

13th Oct 2021

As an eco-friendly printing company, we go out of our way to ensure our processes and materials are sustainable and are proud to be FSC® Certified – this means that all the paper we purchase is sustainably sourced, using only FSC or recycled stocks. We do this because we aim to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum whilst helping other businesses reduce theirs by using sustainable print.

Chances are, you’ve seen FSC logos on everyday packaging but don’t really know what they mean or haven’t paid them much attention, so here we explain the meaning behind these logos to help you make informed decisions. Haven’t noticed them before? We guarantee you will start noticing them after reading this… Each label provides information about the origin of the materials used to make the finished product and the reason for its label.

FSC 100%

Products with the FSC 100% label mean the materials have been sourced from forests that have been audited by an independent third party to confirm they are managed according to FSC’s rigorous social and environmental standards. This label is the highest mark of distinction for certified products as it is known to be the one that contributes most directly to FSC’s objective – forests for all, forever.

FSC RECYCLED

Products with the FSC Recycled label mean the materials have been made from 100% recycled content (either post-consumer or pre-consumer reclaimed materials). By choosing FSC Recycled products, it helps to reduce the pressure and demand on sources of virgin material and because of that, helps to protect the world’s forests.

FSC MIX

Products with the FSC Mix label are made using a mix of recycled materials, materials from FSC-certified forests and/or FSC controlled wood – this wood is not from FSC certified forests, but it mitigates the risk of the material being from unacceptable sources (e.g. illegal logging, human and traditional rights violations, and deforestation) and instead supporting responsible forestry.

We hope that explains a little more about what the different FSC labels mean on products and the importance of using sustainable materials within print. The more customers seek FSC-certified products, the more companies will aim to meet the demand for sustainable products, encouraging them to become FSC-certified to help protect the world’s forests.
