As part of our commitment to environmental protection, we’re proud to support a range of environmental charities and campaigns, including Surfers Against Sewage – one of the UK’s most active and successful environmental charities whose work is dedicated to the protection of our oceans, beaches, rivers, and wildlife.

Did you know?

• In 2020 sewage was pumped into rivers and seas nationwide over 400,000 times, totalling over 3.1 million hours of pollution.
• It is estimated that 90% of licenced sewer overflows in England and Wales discharge directly into rivers.
• 3,328 sewage pollution discharge notifications were issued during the Bathing Season (15th May – 30th September).
• Citizen science water quality monitoring reveals that 75% of river mouth locations monitored, flowing directly onto or close to bathing waters, were routinely of such poor quality that they posed a constant and serious risk to human health.

How Can You Help?

Surfers Against Sewage organise more beach cleans than any other charity, so as an individual, you can organise or attend a local beach clean, become an SAS representative, volunteer at an upcoming event, join a Plastic Free Community, or help spread the word about their work on your social media and sign petitions to support their latest campaigns.
